Springing up to worry European and Japanese car-makers in recent years, Kia has made incredible gains in quality in its current range of family cars. Kia makes tiny city cars right up to mid-size SUVs and massive MPVs - and has become synonymous with quality on a budget – particularly in light of its impressive seven-year warranty on all new cars. Kia’s work mainly centres on cars suitable for family and city runs. The manufacturer’s range includes compact hatchbacks, MPVs and SUV models. The recent Kia range of cars sold in the UK have been engineered specifically for European roads – meaning big advances in quality of more recent Kia cars. Kia describes design as its ‘core future growth engine’, as a result it hired award winning car designer Peter Schreyer as chief design officer in 2006. The hiring of Schreyer has led to an overhaul in design for Kia models, featuring various trim details such as a new trademark “Tiger Nose" grille. The new design work has proven successful, with Kia receiving numerous design awards for some of its current models.
One of the fastest growing companies in the last few years, Kia is a car manufacturer founded in 1944 originating from South Korea. Alongside fellow manufacturer Hyundai; they form the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. In this partnership they are the largest car company in South Korea, and currently the fourth largest in the world.
The manufacturer is highly involved in sports sponsorship. Kia has identified sports a key target to promote its brand and currently sponsors numerous events, teams and athletes.
