Volkswagen Touareg
3.5 out of 5
based on 2 reviews.
The Volkswagen Touareg is a mid-size five door crossover SUV.
The latest generation model was launched in 2010; it shares the same production platform with the Porsche Cayenne. The Volkswagen Touareg was the first hybrid model to be launched by Volkswagen.
The company famously advertised the Touareg by having one tow a decommissioned Boeing 747 passenger jet.
Volkswagen Touareg prices start at around £40,000.

The Touareg is a thirsty beast and is extremely expensive to run. The V10 is obviously rubbish in terms of fuel economy and emissions returning just 23mpg and emitting 332mpg in CO2 in the process. The best in the line-up is the 2.5-litre 171bhp TDI which returns just 26mpg and emits 249g/km in CO2.
We have plenty of information about the Volkswagen Touareg ESTATE (2007-2009), to find out more click the 'View Derivatives' button below.
The Touareg’s an SUV so it’s not great in terms of emissions and efficiency but it’s by no means bad. The smallest engine – 204bhp TDI – is good for 40.4mpg and has CO2 emissions of 184g/km; the lowest in the range. The other three engines return more than 30mpg but emissions can go as high as 239g/km with the 4.2-litre V8 TDI.The hybrid 3.0-litre TSI returns 193g/km and just 34.4mpg – so it’s not the best hybrid in terms of economy and falls short of the Lexus RX450h which returns 44,pg and emits 145g/km.
