Suzuki cuts Splash price to below £8,000
Suzuki has updated its Splash hatchback for 2012, with new styling and a VAT free offer across the model's entire range. This means the car is now available in UK showrooms from just £7,777.
The Splash is a tall-bodied city car with five seats and five doors. With the rear seats folded the car has up to 573 litres of luggage space, the same as the Ford Mondeo saloon.
Suzuki classes the Splash as a 'mini-MPV', making it a close rival to similar sized hatchbacks like the Fiat Panda and the Vauxhall Agila.
Previously the starting price of the Suzuki Splash was higher compared to both the Panda (£8,900) and Agila (£8,495).
However with the manufacturer's special VAT exemption offer, pricing across the Splash range is reduced by nearly £2,000, cutting the starting price from £9,325 to now just £7,777 for the starting SZ2 trim.
Not only does the new price comfortably undercut rival models, but it also makes the Splash one of the cheapest new cars on the UK market today.
That particular honour is currently lead by the Suzuki Alto city car, this is currently available from just £5,995, after it recently gained the company's VAT free offer.
The updated pricing applies to the Suzuki Splash range now, however interested customers should probably look to invest as soon as possible since the offer will likely only apply for a limited time.
Suzuki hasn't said when the deal for the Splash will expire, but the VAT free offer runs on the Alto only until 30 September 2012.
Besides the cheaper pricing, the Suzuki Splash also receives some new exterior and interior styling for 2012.
On the outside the hatchback sports new bumpers, plus a redesigned grille and bonnet. An extra metallic paint job, Sparkling Blue, also joins the range bringing the colour selection to six in total.
Inside the Splash sports a new and improved seat fabric design and the centre console now comes with a Piano Black finish.
Engine options remain unchanged, meaning there's a 67bhp 1.0-litre petrol unit, available for the starting SZ2 and SZ3 trim.
There's also a 93bhp 1.2-litre petrol unit for the SZ3 and the range-topping SZ4 trims, the latter is also available with an optional four-speed automatic gearbox to swap the standard five-speed manual transmission.
Standard equipment on the Splash includes electric front windows and mirrors, central locking and a CD player with MP3 support. The SZ3 trim adds air conditioning, while the SZ4 model brings 15" alloy wheels and tinted privacy windows.
