      <title>Rolls Royce Wraith to be showcased in the Harrods window</title>
      <description>

Rolls-Royce has unveiled its latest model in the UK, the Wraith. The Rolls Royce Wraith made its worldwide debut at the Geneva motor show.

Based on the Ghost, the Rolls-Royce coupé will be showcased in the window display of luxury department store Harrods in Knightsbridge, London for one week.

At launch in Geneva this March, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, remarked that: "Wraith promises the sense of adventure and speed that drove our founding forefather. But of course, Wraith's starting point is luxury, refinement and quality, traits that remain as important to Rolls-Royce customers today as they were more than a century ago."

Harrods Media Sales Director, Guy Cheston, said: "Harrods is at the forefront of promotional opportunities for the world's most esteemed automotive brands, and we are delighted to have on display the most anticipated car release of 2013. The Rolls-Royce Wraith epitomises luxury, style and innovation, and is certain to attract attention from our international clientele."

The Wraith on display features Midnight Sapphire paintwork with an upper two-tone in Cassiopeia Silver, enhancing the coupe-esque lines.

The interior is finished with a white and blue leather scheme, with intertwined RRs embroidered in the headrests in navy. Completing the interior is a starlight headliner, casting a glow from hundreds of individual 'stars' in the roof lining at the press of a button.

The Rolls Royce Wraith will be in the Harrods department store all week, until Saturday 4 May.

      <title>Rolls-Royce FAB1 supporting Breast Cancer Care</title>
      <description>

British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has presented the FAB1, a Rolls-Royce Ghost extended wheelbase that will support the 'FAB1 Million' project and Breast Cancer Care.

The FAB1 Million project, run by TV presenter and Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, is set to raise £1 million for Breast Cancer Care through making the modified Rolls-Royce Ghost available to hire over the next twelve months.

The FAB1 was originally, the iconic pink Rolls-Royce seen in the 1960s science-fiction television series Thunderbirds, owned by fictional London agent Lady Penelope and driven by her butler, Parker.

The Thunderbirds-inspired vehicle will make appearance at exclusive events, as well as being available for hire for any special day, such as weddings, with all proceeds directly benefitting Breast Cancer Care.

In support of both the project and the worthy cause, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke department has designed and prepared a special vehicle, combining an array of exclusive bespoke features, such as pink accented umbrellas and hand-embroidered headrests (which feature the Breast Cancer Care pink ribbon motif).

Further enhancements to the luxury car include unique 'FAB1' treadplates, an uplit 'Spirit of Ecstacy' which adorns the silver satin bonnet and, to top it off, a Blushing Pink and Creme Light interior leather scheme.

Rolls-Royce has modified the cabin of the Ghost as well, in order to provide a superior ride experience and ample legroom.

Passengers of the customised Ghost Extended Wheelbase will experience hand-veneered picnic tables, a champagne coolbox, 9.2-inch LCD screens and top-of-the- range sound system, comprising of a 10-channel amplifier and 16 speakers which deliver 600W of surround sound.

Regarding Rolls-Royce's part in the cause, Jolyon Nash, Sales and Marketing Director, commented: 'When I received the call from Chris Evans to support FAB1 Million, we immediately sprang into action. It's taken countless hours to create such a special car but every minute spent is absolutely worth it for such a valuable cause. We wish the project every success.'

The FAB1 Million project is set to launch this Thursday, on April 18th, with a star-studded point-to-point drive in the FAB1 Ghost from Land's End to John O'Groats.

      <title>Production headache for Rolls Royce</title>
      <description>

British luxury car builder Rolls Royce is facing a production headache after revealing it will not be able to build more cars once production capacity is reached.

Nearly all Rolls Royce Phantoms and Ghosts, the two luxury cars it currently sells, are hand built at the Goodwood factory but the brand is unable to expand the facility because it is in a conservation area.

The iconic brand has confirmed it will not build another factory in the UK because its customers expect the heritage of the Goodwood site.

Chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös said: 'We made more than 3,500 cars last year but eventually we will be restricted in terms of expansion because the factory is in a conservation area. There are no plans to open another plant in the UK so ultimately volume will be determined by the size of the plant.'

Production capacity is particularly small because each car takes up to 800 hours to complete because of the hand-crafted nature of much of the car's list of options.

Rolls Royce cars start from around £200,000 but, according to the brand, customers are more likely to spend up to £1m on customising their cars.

To do this the brand has three customisation experts on hand ready to fly all over the world for a personalised service.

Rolls Royce says this is because the brand is not actually a car business. Instead its customers are more likely to be mulling over buying a Rolls Royce or splashing the cash on a yacht or a jet instead.

The stunning Rolls Royce Wraith will become the third model in the Rolls Royce range this year. The car is almost a coupe version of the Ghost and will push the brand even further towards full production capacity.

The V12 624bhp luxury tourer is a rival to the likes of the Bentley Continental GT but adds an extra dose of luxury for those buying at the top end of the market.

      <title>Inaugural Rolls-Royce exhibition opens in Germany</title>
      <description>

The first ever Rolls-Royce Motor Cars exhibition at the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany officially opens tomorrow.

The unique exhibition, which is titled 'Strive for Perfection', will be celebrating the tenth year of the resurgence of the Rolls-Royce brand under BMW Group ownership.

In addition, the event also commemorates another key milestone in Rolls-Royce history, namely the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Henry Royce, co-founder of the Rolls-Royce car manufacturing company.

The Rolls-Royce display at the BMW Museum in Munich tells the story of the world's leading super-luxury goods manufacturer, in perfect chronology; starting with the meeting of the company's founding fathers, Sir Henry Royce and the Honourable Charles Stewart Rolls, in 1904, through to the present day.

The exhibition is situated in the landmark BMW Museum bowl and covers more than 1,000 square metres, over five floors.

The display showcases fifteen original Rolls-Royce motor cars, which date from 1907 to 2012, including the famous Rolls-Royce 10EX, one of the most significant experimental cars of all-time, which was built in 1926 to demonstrate the performance potential of the 'New Phantom' vehicle.

In his relentless pursuit of automotive perfection, Sir Henry Royce himself engineered and drove the 10EX model; such was his belief in the motor.

The Rolls-Royce exhibition is complimented by displays of timeless craftsmanship from other British luxury manufacturers. These include men's and women's fashion, leather goods, time pieces, shoes, silver and glass ware.

Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer, commented: 'This outstanding and historic exhibition proudly celebrates the tenth anniversary of the renaissance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars under BMW Group ownership.'

Muller-Otvos further added: 'Our contemporary motor cars present a unique blend of German expertise and technology and outstanding British craftsmanship and design.

'It is therefore appropriate that this key moment in the story of this Great British manufacturing success story is told in the BMW Museum, an iconic location which is both the 'soul and the memory' of the BMW Group.'

      <title>Rolls-Royce Wraith - Preview</title>
      <description>

This year's Geneva is suddenly looking a hell of a lot more interesting, thanks to Rolls-Royce.

Keep 5 March 2013 in your diaries. That's when the world will get its first glimpse of the brand new Rolls-Royce Wraith.

The boasts are already coming thick and fast. Rolls-Royce say it's the most dynamic and powerful car it's ever produced in its history. First deliveries are expected toward the end of this year.

It's all very Lord of the Rings. Even the famous Spirit of Ecstasy looks like it's about to slaughter a string of Hobbitses without mercy.

So what do we know?

But we feel the intimidating Wraith motif is the perfect way to accentuate the car's apparent bonnet-busting fury. "This is a car not only defined by a timeless elegance, but one that encapsulates a sense of power, style and drama," said Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO recently.

"Expect the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine," he adds.

How could anybody ignore such a humble pitch?

The promises are set-in-stone now, as far as we're concerned. Of course it's likely only the six most powerful people in the world will be able to afford it, with the Wraith looking to reinvent the ultra-luxury segment without mercy.

Keep the Wraith

The Wraith name was first used in 1938 (see video above). The new model likely to be a large coupe.

The last Silver Wraith ended production in 1959, but there's likely to be little similarity between that model and the next-generation concept. The new car is expected to feature cues from the Rolls-Royce Ghost, including its ferocious turbocharged 6.6 V12.

The Wraith will compete against Mercedes CL Class and Bentley Continental when it's unleashed upon the world.

BMW Group board member and Rolls-Royce Chairman Harald Krüger refuses to contemplate failure, insisting the Wraith is being built to secure the long-term future of the brand.

"The BMW Group is confidently investing into the long-term future of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

"And this exceptional new car will build on the finest principles of the company's forefathers - the world's best engineering, the employment of cutting edge technology and peerless craftsmanship."

We can't wait 'til March.

      <title>Freddie Mercury's Rolls-Royce up for auction</title>
      <description>

A 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow previously owned by the lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury, is to go on sale at auction this weekend coming.

The large and luxurious four-door saloon was originally purchased back in 1979 by Freddie Mercury's managing company, Goose Productions Ltd, for him alone to use.

However, this is a case of another one bites the dust for celebrity cars in the latest car auction to have a star-studded twist.

Official documents with the Rolls-Royce confirm that the car was in fact purchased for the famous singer, and Mercury continued to hold ownership of this vehicle up until his death during November 1991. Today the car's odometer shows the saloon has travelled 62,000 miles in total.

These details can be read in a large history record provided with the Rolls-Royce, which also contains various bills, receipts and an MOT certificate which is due to expire in February 2013.

All of this along with the car itself is being sold at an auction on Saturday 12 January 2013, at the Birmingham NEC Arena and as part as the Autosport International Motor Show.

Reportedly the Mercury-owned Rolls-Royce is expected to be fetched for somewhere in a price region of £9,000 and £11,000.

That means a motorists could walk away with a large classic British saloon previously owned by one of the most famous names in the music industry, paying less then it currently costs to buy a new basic-trim Ford Focus.

It's a kind of magic that a car of this calibre has an affordable price tag and is being offered to the general public.

It has all been arranged by classic car auction specialists COYS, who have sold cars belonging to famous celebrities before. Their previous sold examples include an Aston Martin DB5 which belonged to George Harrison, and a Ford Mustang GT which appeared in the film Gone in 60 Seconds.

      <title>2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost revealed</title>
      <description>

The Rolls-Royce Ghost luxury saloon has been updated for the 2013 model year, now including extra and upgraded equipment.

The four-door model has been revealed shortly before this year's Halloween, but there's nothing spooky about this particular Ghost.

The latest model has been inspired by the Ghost Six Senses concept which was earlier this year during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.

Whether customers choose the standard or extended wheelbase specification, the 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost will now include an updated interior with soft, natural-grain leather and wood veneer trim.

Inside buyers will now also benefit from an improved stereo system which has extra speakers and a new amplifier for a better sound.

At the rear the Ghost can now be specified with an automatic-opening bootlid, which can work even if you have the car key in your pocket. All you'll have to do is put your foot underneath the centre of the rear bumper, where a sensor is placed, and the boot will open automatically.

For the exterior, the 2013 Ghost can now be specified with a forged alloy wheel option, along with as a choice of as many as 44,000 exterior paint options to combine and customise.

The engine and performance figures for the 2013 Ghost are set to remain the same as they were before. That means the luxury saloon will continue to use a 563bhp 6.6-litre V12 petrol engine, connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

With this set-up the rear-wheel drive Ghost can travel from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds when in standard trim, or 4.8 seconds in the Extended Wheelbase specification. The Ghost also has a electronically limited top speed set at 155mph.

Production of the 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost will commence at the end of this year. Details for a final launch date and pricing have yet to be confirmed.

      <title>Paris 2012 - Rolls-Royce's Art Deco-style gallery</title>
      <description>

Keep up to date with all the goings on at Paris 2012, and join the discussion with MotorTorque's 48-hour live blog.

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a selection of Art Deco-style Ghost and Phantom family cars aqt the Paris Motor Show.

A Phantom Series II Saloon, Phantom Series II Drophead Coupé and Ghost models were all shown off, each with their own bespoke style. The cars have been designed in homage to the 1925 Paris Exhibition, which gave the Art Deco movement its name and identity.

The Phantom Saloon features a black and arctic-white interior and, most incredibly, a beautiful telephone drawer. Its elegance at its finest, with other design quirks including stainless-steel inlays, door cappings and rear picnic table backs.

The Ghost's features are a lot more simple, but executed just as well by the Rolls-Royce craftspeople. The Ghost is presented in Jubilee Silver atop Cobalto Blue. The Phantom Series II Drophead includes mother of pearl onlays.

The cars' interiors feature cashmere and fine leathers, whilst specially-sourced wood veneers complement the vehicles' inlays. Ghost Art Deco collection cars are available in either Infinity Black or Arctic White with dual bespoke coach line and an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy.

Interior styling on the car includes handcrafted Art Deco inlays, as well as a black and white interior scheme featuring a choice of four seat piping colours.

"For over a century a Rolls-Royce motor car has taken inspiration from the prevailing style of its time whilst retaining the marque's unique design aesthetic," says Giles Taylor, Design Director at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

"Art Deco was defined by theatre, glamour and a sense of excitement. Working to create contemporary interpretations of these classic themes has been enormously rewarding for everyone in my bespoke design team."
