The Twingo is a capable and comfortable - but rather serious for a city car.

Emissions: 49 – 55mpg combined and 119-130g/km are very competitive on the Twingo range.
Feel: Road and wind noise isn’t too much of an issue, and neither are the engines. Noise levels rise at motorway speeds, but no more than other cars of a similar size.
Equipment: Base Twingo models get nothing worth mentioning. Renaultsport trim is the best value for money, adding air conditioning, automatic lights and sport suspension.
Quality: Though a definite no-frills option, budget models seem very well built. While high specced models add a bit more class.
Pros: Frugal engines, practical and spacious for its size.
Alternatives: Kia Picanto, Vauxhall Agila, Nissan Pixo, Ford Ka, Fiat 500

Performance: Worth avoiding the entry level 59bhp 1.2-litre petrol on the Twingo and opting for the Renaultsport 1.6 or TCe GT turbocharged units for more punch and improved flexibility.
Driving: The Twingo isn’t as fun as its Citroen or Peugeot equivalents, but the light steering makes urban driving a breeze. It also keeps its composure through the bends.
Space: Interior layout means the Renault Twingo is practical and spacious, with enough rear leg and head room for most adults.
Price: While the Twingo undercuts most competitors, resale values are just average. Running costs are very affordable in the majority of models.
Safety: Four airbags come as standard – stability control and extra airbags are cost extras.
Cons: Base trims reflect low price.
