Nissan Juke-R: World's fastest SUV finally arrives
The Nissan Juke-R, a car first put together simply for the sake of adding a V6 engine to a mini-SUV, has amazingly arrived on UK roads as a car drivers can actually buy.
Even more remarkably, the limited edition hot hatch is even more powerful than the mad concept, which used the same platform and engine as the Nissan GT-R supercar as the basis for the pocket-rocket.
Nissan has delivered its first Nissan Juke-R to a lucky first customer just months after revealing the car would go on sale in limited numbers.
With a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine churning out 545bhp - more than a Lamborghini Gallardo - the Nissan Juke-R offers a 0-62mph sprint time of just three seconds and a top speed of 170mph.
After adding a re-sculpted, and more aggressive, body shell along with new performance exhaust, alloy wheels, suspension and brakes, the Nissan Juke-R was an instant success.
In fact, Nissan actually received three genuine offers for the car while driving the concept around the streets of Dubai at the beginning of the year.
This was followed by over five million Youtube views and a clamour for the car to go on sale for hot hatch fans everywhere.
Nissan Juke-R 001 has now been delivered and 002 is still being produced but buyers will need to find the best part of £500,000 to get behind the wheel of the compact crossover that represents the barmier end of the UK car market.
However, for those with significantly less cash to play with, the Nissan Juke-R will be available to play as a CGI car in the new mobile racing game, Asphalt 7: Heat.
While not the same thing as actually driving the car - MotorTorque was lucky enough to do just that earlier this year - it does allow people on iOS and Android devices a chance to take a closer look at the hot hatch.
If that still does not satisfy, a watered-down 200PS version, named the Nissan Juke Nismo after the brand's Motorsport name, will go on sale to UK buyers in 2013.
