With its segment-leading crossover vehicles, Nissan has shown how it’s possible for a car manufacturer to reinvent itself in just a few years. Although it’s still one of the volume players – with its feet firmly rooted in family cars – Nissan has struck out and defined a sector that barely existed a few years ago.
The Nissan Qashqai range and smaller Nissan Juke have reinvented family cars are cooler, funkier and, well, higher. Although Nissan’s crossovers are tall they bear the same footprint as superminis and small family cars – and rarely feature much beyond basic off-roading ability.
Nissan has also struck out in electric vehicles too, with its Leaf EV winning plaudits from the industry, if not enormous UK sales. With partner Renault, Nissan is leading the way in electric car technology.
With a range of tough, rugged 4x4s and a burgeoning reputation as a manufacturer or cut-price supercars and smaller sports cars, Nissan is nothing if not eclectic - new Nissan reviews bear out the manufacturer’s burgeoning reputation as an innovator.
