BMW teases new special edition M3 and M5
BMW has revealed two more special edition models for the M3 and M5 performance saloon range, only 30 of each will reach the UK.
Both named the Performance Edition, the cars were confirmed by BMW via a couple of short online teaser videos.
The announcement comes less than a month after BMW announced another special edition trim for the M3 Coupe called the Frozen Silver Edition.
While the name Performance Edition might suggest a change in the cars pace, neither the engine nor the performances figures of the M3 and M5 models are actually altered in anyway.
That means the M3 will still use a 415bhp turbo V8 petrol engine, while the M5 retains its 552bhp twin-turbo V8.
Instead of performance upgrades, the M3 and M5 will be given some unique interior and exterior features and will be sold in just three paint schemes. The colours include Frozen Red, Frozen White and Frozen Blue, three colours which make up BMW's M division badge.
Out of the 30 M3 and M5 models, ten each will be sold in the three colour schemes, and every model will carry a badge labelled 'One of 30' in the cabin.
Other styling features for both cars will include 20" alloy wheels in matt black, and black leather seats with matching piano black cabin trim.
The BMW M3 Performance Edition will also add everything in from its exclusive Competition Pack. That means the car will have a lower ride height then the standard model to improve handling, plus a carbon spoiler and an engine stop-start function.
The special edition M3 will start from £74,080, that's £19,360 more than the standard M3 Coupe.
The M5 Performance Edition meanwhile will start at £95,140, making it £22,075 more than the standard M5 saloon.
More details including the UK launch date for the Performance Edition BMWs will be announced at a later date.
