The Mazda MX-5 is an iconic roadster, nearing legendary status in the automotive world for its ubiquity and phenomenal handling. The Mazda MX-5 is currently available in roadster format, with a fabric roof, and metal roadster coupe models. Engines appear comparatively small for sports cars, but the 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines are plenty fast for the small, lightweight and distinctly chuckable MX-5. Mazda MX-5 prices start at around £18,000 for roadster models and £20,000 for roadster coupe models. First produced in 1989, the current generation model of the MX-5 has been available since 2006, receiving a facelift for 2009. Mazda reached a landmark in 2011 for producing 900,000 MX-5 models globally since it was first released.
The roadster also holds the Guinness world record for best selling two-seat convertible sports car in history. The Mazda MX-5 has held on to this title since 2000.
