Ford C-Max Estate (2010 On)

Welcome to our Ford C-Max Estate (2010 On) page providing you access to a wealth of related information and specifications.

A-Z

Despite its MPV tag the C-MAX is a genuine joy to drive, and it's spacious and versatile to boot

Emissions

The leading engine in terms of emissions and efficiency for the C-Max is the 1.6-litre TDCi diesel unit. The 113bhp unit returns 61mpg and emits just 119g/km in CO2 emissions. That’s alongside decent performance figures, too.

Feel

Compared to the last generation the C-Max, the new model has a much stiffer ride but it isn’t so stiff as to make it uncomfortable over long distances. Instead, the tweaks to the suspension and chassis make it sharper.

Equipment

The C-Max comes with just two trim levels with the most basic Zetec models coming with alloy wheels, air conditioning and a DAB Radio as standard. The range-topping Titanium trim level adds cruise control, keyless ignition and dual zone, automatic, electronic climate control.

Quality

The interior is well put together and robust but it does take on a fairly brash design with plenty of chrome and gloss plastic throughout. Like any Ford though, the interior of the C-Max will be tough and robust.

Pros

The C-Max handles brilliantly and it feels like you’re driving a small car when you’re behind the wheel. There is also plenty of kit and a range of strong and efficient diesel and petrol engines.

Alternatives

Volkswagen Golf Plus, Renault Scenic

Performance

There are four engines available with the Ford C-Max, comprised of two petrol units and two diesel options. The flagship model in terms of performance is the 1.6-litre 147bhp EcoBoost engine. It clears 60mph in 9.1 seconds and hits a top speed of 127mph alongside its efficient figures too. The 2.0-litre 138bhp diesel unit is just a tad behind the petrol unit with a 0-60mph sprint time of 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 125mph.

Driving

The C-Max handles like a smaller car which is essentially what every MPV aims for. It’s agile, controlled and the only way you’ll experience body roll is if you fly into a corner too fast. The steering is accurate too thanks to some excellent weight distribution so there’s no guess work involved when moving the wheel.

Space

The C-Max has a massive 666-litre boot at the rear, bigger than the Scenic and the C4 Picasso, and that increases to 1,723-litres with the rear seats lowered. The C-Max, despite having two less seats, is actually only slightly shorter than the seven-seat Grand C-Max. That means there’s plenty of room for all passengers.

Price

Prices for the C-Max range from £17,445 to £21,495.

Safety

The C-Max comes well kitted out in safety equipment. There’s an electronic stability programme (ESP), ABS and Corner Brake Control (CBC) as standard while buyers can also plump for more sophisticated gadgets including a blind spot monitoring system and Active Park Assist.

Cons

The C-Max is not quite as versatile or practical as some of its alternatives on the market.
