Subaru is known for its strong off-road offerings, so the XV is expected to mix the sharp looks of a crossover with SUV with genuine off-road ability, rarely a strength in traditional crossover SUVs.
As it resembles a jacked-up Impreza - a car that did not meet universal approval in temrs of its looks - the concept could preview both the new five-door Impreza and a possible new model in the Impreza range, which would square up against the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Ford Kuga.
The XV features a front face straight out of the rest of the Subaru range, while the rear is much more muscular and sculpted, with black lower bumper protectors and metallic highlights reinforcing the off-road character.
A hexagon theme is evident throughout the car, while the XV features a panoramic roof that connects front and rear windscreens, with clear and metallic roof rails.
New alloy wheels with silver spokes and black rims are evident, while the concept gets a special Electro Yellowgreen paint job.
The Subaru XV concept is powered by a 2.0-litre boxer engine paired to a CVT transmission.
The interior is decked out in a white leather that contrasts with darker tones, while a sporty mesh with yellow-green piping is gives a sporty finish, says Subaru.
A large touch-panel multi-information display will allow the driver to control navigation and audio systems, while EyeSight features allow the driver to view images from stereo cameras.
