Seat has added a new range-topper to its Leon hatchback line-up in the shape of the FR+ model, the Spanish car maker has announced.
The Seat Leon FR+ is based on the FR trim, but adds a new, more powerful engine and £2,500 worth of extra equipment.

The Seat Leon FR is the strongest performance variant of the sporty hatchback before you reach the Seat Leon Cupra R hot hatch, the most powerful Seat ever sold in the UK.
As the best-selling model in the UK – the Leon FR makes up a quarter of all Seat Leon’s sold – the Spanish car maker has decided to extend the range with the FR+ version.
The new Seat Leon FR+ sits between the two with a new 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine developing 210bhp and a 2.0-litre diesel delivering 170bhp.
This is an improvement over the 125bhp petrol and 140bhp diesel available with the FR specification but below the 261bhp Cupra R – the out-and-out performance hot hatch in the range.
The Seat Leon FR+ carries over the sporty styling of the FR, including sports seats, front and rear bumpers and twin chrome exhaust pipes.
However, it also adds 18" alloy wheels and an extensive media system featuring a five-inch colour screen, sat-nav, DAB radio and Bluetooth technology.
Front and rear parking sensors, Bi-xenon headlamps and an auto-dimming rear view mirror are also included on FR+ models.
Seat says the extras would add up to £2,500 if added separately but the FR+ trim adds just £1,070 over FR models.
Prices for the Seat Leon FR start from £18,205, while the new Seat Leon FR+ starts from £21,600.
The Seat Leon Cupra R hot hatch is priced at £26,000, while the entry-level Seat Leon S costs just £14,635, rising to £16,940 for the middle-range SE trim.
