The first images of the facelifted BMW X1 have been published a day before its public unveiling at the 2012 New York Auto Show this month.
The compact crossover, which was first launched back in 2009, receives numerous styling alterations for 2012, both on the outside and inside.

Changes to the exterior include the introduction of body coloured bumpers, replacing the more muscular looking black bumpers found on the previous X1.
Some of the more subtle exterior tweaks include a redesigned grille with silver slats, a new set of headlamps with chrome accents and new side indicators which have been integrated into the X1's door mirrors.
While these changes aren't exactly major, they do give the BMW X1 a sleeker look, particularly at the front.
The car's interior has also been improved, as BMW has now fitted touches of chrome finish around the cabin as well as a redesigned centre console and high-gloss black trim air vents.
The X1 will be available with either a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive BMW xDrive powertrain. Engine options for the UK market are currently unconfirmed, but the range will likely include BMW's fuel saving EfficientDynamics technology.
Expect models then to include features like stop-start engine technology, brake energy regeneration and low rolling resistance tyres which all benefit fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
The new BMW X1 is expected to appear in UK showrooms in May 2012, with pricing estimated at £25,000.
