The McLaren MP4-12C has been updated for the 2013 model year, resulting in a faster, more powerful and more customisable supercar.
Whilst the car still uses a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, its output has been boosted by 25bhp, meaning in total the unit now delivers 616bhp.

That output easily beats some of McLaren's biggest rivals like the current Mercedes SLS and the Ferrari 458 Italia which produce 563bhp and 562bhp respectively.
During this same week however the Mercedes SLS was confirmed to be getting a faster and more powerful specification called the GT, which is due to hit UK showrooms in November 2012.
Performance-wise the MP4-12C's 0-62mph sprint time remains unchanged at 3.1 seconds, but the 0-186mph sprint time has been cut by one second down to 26.5 in total. The top speed has also been increased from 205mph to 207mph.
In terms of efficiency however the MP4-12C remains unchanged, the supercar still emits 279g/km and the official combined fuel economy is still recorded at 24.2mpg.
McLaren has achieved all of this by also upgrading the MP4-12C's seven-speed paddle operated gearbox. The device has been reworked so that it delivers faster and smoother gear changes, not only with the intent to improve performance but to make it easier for the driver to live with.
Another significant change to the MP4-12C is the inclusion of a device McLaren calls the Intake Sound Generator (ISG). This feature allows the driver to alter the engine noise level, to make the car sound softer or more dramatic depending on the driver's preference.
Other updates have been brought to the exterior and interior of the MP4-12C, including extra body paint colours and leather trims, plus redesigned five-spoke alloy wheels.
Current owners of the MP4-12C will be offered by McLaren to have their car converted with the 2013 model year upgrades for free.
Later this year a convertible version of the MP4-12C called the Spider is expected to go on sale. This car will feature a three-piece folding metal roof and will challenge other convertible supercar rivals like the Ferrari 458 Spider and Mercedes SLS Roadster.
