Fiat posts €1.1bn profit

Fiat Automobiles has doubled its 2007 profit over figures from 2006, to €1.1bn.

Fiat sold 2.234m vehicles in 2007 - the manufacturer´s highest volume in seven years - generating revenues of €26.8bn euros, up 13.1 per cent.

Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia tripled trading profit to €803m, while Maserati and Ferrari contributed another €290m in trading profit. Fiat light commercial vehicles lifted its sales by 19.9 per cent around the world.

The figures were part of a larger profit of €3.2bn for Fiat Group.
