fitting style last weekend as more than 1,100 Subaru Imprezas converged
on the HQ of the engineering firm that’s equally synominous with the
World Rally Championship-winning legend, Prodrive.
Driving
in synch, over 1,000 Subaru Impreza owners drove straight in to the
Guinness Book of World Records for configuring the Imprezas in such a

And
then shortly afterwards, broke another world record by creating the
largest parade of cars ever to amass in such a convoy as they left the
Prodrive test track in Banbury.

had started nine hours and 300 miles due north in McRae’s home town of
Lanark in Scotland, before participants embarked on their show of
respect, led by Colin’s father, Jimmy McRae.
The
procession of Imprezas – which at its peak measured some 30 miles nose
to tail – were cheered along en route by crowds of well-wishers who
amassed on motorway bridges along the route the celebratory rally took.
On regrouping at Prodrive’s base, the fleet of Subaru’s followed McRae’s original 1996 Impreza rally car up the M40.
The McRae charities benefited to an estimated Impreza exhaust note-tune said to be in the region of £40,000.
