BMW has detailed a raft of changes to its model range during March 2012, which includes the UK launch of the all-new BMW 3 Series saloon.
The new 3 series saloon will appear in showrooms next month, with prices initially starting at £28,080 for the 320d model with an 184bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine.
Prices for the new saloon step up to £29,060 for the 328i model which has a 241bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine. Meanwhile the 335i model with the 302bhp 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine starts from £35,525.
There will be six trim levels in total for the 3 Series saloon, beginning with ES as the starting trim and followed by SE, Sport, Modern, Luxury and M Sport, the latter of which will arrive later in 2012.
The starting price of the 3-Series saloon will also be reduced less than a month after its initial launch, when the car gets a new entry-level 116bhp 316d 2.0-litre diesel engine, as well as a 143bhp 318d 2.0-litre diesel. Pricing for the 316d model in ES trim will start at £24,880.
Revised 1 Series line-up
In other news, BMW is bringing a series of new diesel engines and special edition trims for some of its current models during a busy spring period.
The BMW 1 Series five-door hatchback now receives an M sport package as well as three new engines, including one petrol and two diesels. The new petrol unit is a 218bhp 2.0-litre 125i, while the diesels include an 116bhp 1.6-litre 116d plus a 218bhp 2.0-litre 125d.
The BMW 1 Series in three-door coupe and two-door convertible bodystyles gain two exclusive styling trims called Edition Exclusive and Edition Sport.
In further changes by BMW, the 5-series saloon and Touring estate models with either the available diesel engines gain BluePerformance Technology which will reduce emissions output further.
The BMW 6-Series, in coupe and convertible bodystyles and with the 313bhp 3.0-litre 640d diesel engine, will be available in all-wheel drive for the first time from this spring onwards.
The final change announced by BMW for March 2012 is an upgrade to the Z4 roadster’s hard top roof, which can be opened or closed at speeds up to 25mph with the upgrade.
