Saab
After a long running saga, Dutch firm Spyker has finally confirmed it has purchased Saab Automobile AB from General Motors.
Saab and Spyker will now operate as sister companies under the Spyker Cars brand. The news apparently secures the future of Saab, which looked in doubt when the deal stalled recently over financing.
The transaction has added €15 per share according to Victor Muller, CEO of Spyker. He explained: “From today we will be concentrating all of our efforts into reviving Saab and transforming it into a sustainable and profitable company with the confidence to be bold.
"We will reinforce the emotional experience between Saab drivers and their cars and we will focus on Saab's historical strengths in the fields of independent thinking, aircraft heritage, ecological performance and motorsport."
Vauxhall
Vauxhall has announced a whole series of ‘VXR Power Events’ set to take place over the coming months.
Included in the events are an invitation for VXR drivers to tour the biggest and best rollercoasters in the UK, several track days and sprint nights (with cars supplied by Vauxhall) as well as planned drives to the Nurburgring and Le Mans.
The series of events will be concluded with a VXR Power Festival at Silverstone Racing Circuit on August Bank Holiday weekend. VXR owners can take part in timed acceleration runs alongside other live events.

Mercedes has released details of a new research car, a saloon model packed full of ‘green’ technology.
The five-seat saloon features an all-new multi drive platform which can support electric drives and plug-in hybrids for reduced emissions.
The Plug-in-hybrid technology in the F 800 Style produces emissions of only 68g/km of CO2, despite offering 300bhp from the V6 petrol engine.
Featuring a new body concept, the research car has rear pivot-and-slide doors for easier access and a sleeker body shape. Mercedes will be looking to use the technology in future ranges.
