The new design theme has already been demonstrated on the upcoming 2013 Renault Clio, which forms part of Renault's latest plan to revive flagging UK sales and fight back against newcomers to the market.
The 2014 Renault Megane Coupe could prove a direct competitor against other sporty looking coupes currently on the market, such as the newer Volkswagen Scirocco and the Vauxhall Astra GTC.
A hot-coupe RenaultSport specification for the 2014 Megane Coupe is also a strong possibility.
The current Megane range received some minor styling alterations earlier in 2012, at the same time Renault undertook major changes to cut down its UK model line-up.
Back in February this year, the French manufacturer also scrapped 55 dealerships in its UK network, reducing the total number of sites from 190 to 135.
During this year Renault has also added two new all-electric models to its range in the UK, including the Fluence ZE and Twizy ZE. A third electric car, the Zoe ZE hatchback will also go on sale towards the end of this year.
Renault also plans to start selling Dacia brand models at its remaining UK showrooms starting from January 2013.
All of these new models however will likely only make up a small amount of Renault's total sales in comparison to the next Clio hatchback and Megane range - two regulars in the UK top ten best-sellers list.
