2012 Kia Cee'd unwrapped at Geneva
After initially unveiling the new Cee’d with a teaser image and minimal details in January, Kia has unwrapped its new hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new Cee’d comes with a sleeker, more muscular and stylish design than its predecessor which looks much more conservative in comparison. It sports a new mesh grille trimmed in chrome, which also borders the car’s windows as well.

The 2012 Cee’d has a much more sporty stance and wedge-like profile when compared to the last generation, which the Korean manufacturer calls more streamlined. According to Kia its design isn’t purely cosmetic but borne from extensive testing in a wind tunnel.
The design and profile of the Cee’d has been tweaked according to the wind tunnel research to give a much more aerodynamic design. That, along with an improved and updated engine range, allows for a four per cent improvement in fuel consumption across the entire Cee’d range.
There are two petrol and two diesel units available with the new Cee’d and the 128PS 1.4-litre CRDi, which returns 64mpg and emits 97g/km, is the best in the range in terms of fuel economy and emissions.
"The original Cee'd was a major landmark car for Kia in Europe, enabling us to compete in the hotly contested C-segment for the first time. The second-generation model is, once again, a game-changing car with enhanced design, quality and powertrains," said Thomas Oh, Senior VP and COO at Kia.
Kia also revealed the Cee’d SW estate at the Geneva Motor Show. It’s a larger, longer version of the hatchback that carries the same design features as its smaller namesake.
Full details have yet to be revealed for either Cee’d derivative however they are expected to be confirmed before its official launch date later in 2012.
