Audi A1 Reviews
The Audi A1 is a relative newcomer to the German manufacturer’s range, with the premium supermini arriving late in 2010 to mark a new chapter in premium small cars.
Available only as a three-door on launch, Audi says that five-door A1 Sportback models are on the horizon.
Almost immediately after its release, the Audi A1 picked up a Car of the Year gong and since then it has collected further titles, including a cost of motoring award in light of its efficient engine line-up.
The three-door A1 hatchback comes with an impressive range of petrol and diesel engines that mix performance and economy brilliantly.
The Audi A1 range kicks off with a small 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which returns more than 50mpg and emits just 118mpg but the largest engine, a powerful 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit, has picked up particularly strong Audi A1 ratings and Audi A1 reviews.
With 140bhp of power and capable of sprinting to 60mph in 7.9 seconds, the 2.0-litre TDI also manages to return 68mpg on the fuel consumption combined cycle and emits just 108g/km of CO2.
Audi’s famed Quattro four-wheel drive system has also reached the A1 but only on a limited edition model.
The Audi A1 is a highly desirable car and it does that rare thing of being sensible and practical as well as affordable.
In terms of styling, the A1 shuns Audi’s typically conservative styling with stunning looks, capped off by a contrasting roofline. It looks sharp from the outside and that continues inside where Audi A1 ratings begin to rise, in light of the plush interior and premium quality materials and technology.
Audi A1 reviews and Audi A1 ratings
Audi A1 reviews acknowledge the entry-level price of the premium hatch. With an opening price of around £13,000, the premium car doesn’t necessarily come with a premium price tag and top-of-the-range models cost around £22,000.
New Audi A1 reviews focus on the supermini’s overall quality. Our own review praised the A1’s price, performance, comfort and brand value, concluding:
“We think it could be Audi’s best mainstream car given the price and that is a huge compliment."
