2013 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante is out of this world
A prestigious Italian coachbuilding company has marked the 60th birthday of the iconic Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 ‘Disco Volante’ with the production of a 2013 edition of the Disco Volante.
Designed by Touring Superleggera and officially endorsed by Alfa Romeo, the 2013 Disco Volante is a two-seater grand tourer with a completely bespoke, hand-made carbon fibre and aluminium body.
Mounted in the front of the high-performance luxury model is a beastly 4.7-litre V8 engine, estimated to be able to power the Disco Volante from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds, before going on to hit a top speed of 180mph.
Mated to a six-speed sequential manual gearbox and featuring rear-wheel drive, the engine delivers 450bhp and produces 480Nm of torque.
The 2013 Disco Volante, which literally translates to ‘flying saucer’, celebrates the 1952 model’s style, with the interior continuing the car’s design philosophy with a science fiction feel, including red LED interior light profiles.
The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante is a very limited production vehicle that will be built only to demand. According to the Milanese coachbuilding firm, each model requires 4,000 hours of craftsmanship to complete.
Pricing for the Disco Volante is also on demand and all sales enquiries can be addressed to the Touring Superleggera factory in Milan.
