Build your own Abarth hot hatch from next year
This Maserati-inspired Abarth 695 is the ultimate car mod for the humble Fiat 500 - and it will be available to customers from next year.
Abarth, the Scorpion-clad hot hatch arm of the Fiat Group, has been adding more power and performance to the 500 for several years but only now will it offer an unrivalled range of customisation.
It will present its latest range of new hot hatches at next week's Paris Motor Show and at the top of the bill sits this 695 Fuori Serie collection model.
The Fuori Serie is not simply just another special edition 500 however; it is a new programme of fully customisable upgrades, which allows customers to pick and choose how exactly they want to equip their Abarth hatchback.
Abarth explains this level of customisation allows customers "the chance to choose and build a car that perfectly adapts to the driver's personality and driving requirements".
The new, customisable Abarth
To start with, each Abarth 695 Fuori will have a 178bhp turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet, and include an automated manual gearbox, suspension dampers and Brembo brakes as standard.
From there customers can pick from a large array of choices for the bodykit, the interior trim, the paint applied to the bodyshell and bumpers and even the amount of carbon fibre trim there is. This can create a large variety of striking designs like the one in the image above.
Abarth adds that in order to guide customers through the customisation process, the company has created two specific collections called Heritage and New Wave.
Heritage models offer liveries which are inspired by cars from Abarth's history. Meanwhile the styling on New Wave cars is said to be inspired by modern supercars.
These will no doubt include nods to Abarth's sister brands, Ferrari and Maserati, both of which have inspired special edition Abarth cars in the past.
Word on prices or the launch date for the 695 Fuori Serie is currently unknown. However the public will be able to get up close to the customisable hot hatch for the first time at the 2012 Paris Motor Show next week.
During this show, Abarth will also display the 595 Turismo and Competizione, two special edition ranges based on the Fiat 500 and 500C convertible. They were previously revealed just last month and are available to order now in the UK.
Prices for the Turismo start at £17,725 in hatchback form, while the Competizione hatchback starts from £18,725.
